FCCLA Hosts Red Cross Blood Drive
With 46 donors ready to donate, the Plainview FCCLA Chapter hosted the Red Cross Blood Drive Wednesday, May 18th at the high school. Unfortunately, due to Red Cross Staff shortages that occurred throughout the day, 13 donors were notified of their cancelled donation times. The day ended with 35 units being collected, just seven short of the 42-unit goal set by the Red Cross.
"We would like to thank everyone for donating and scheduling their appointments. I apologize for the waiting time and cancellations." stated FCCLA Adviser Ronita Jacobsen. "Your donations and commitment to donating is appreciated.”
The next blood drive will be July 13th at the Elementary School lunchroom. Donors can go online at redcross.org to make their next appointment. Registering early ensures the time slot that works best for you. As a reminder, the total number of donations received throughout the school year determines the amount of scholarship money provided to our Plainview High School students from the Red Cross.
