FCCLA to Host Red Cross Blood Drive at Mary's Cafe'
Plainview FCCLA has partnered with Mary’s Café in hosting the next Red Cross Blood Drive. The drive will be held Wednesday, September 18, from 9 am–3 pm in the back room at Mary’s Café. Please use the back entrance. 40 donations is the goal for the drive set by the Red Cross, which is a huge but achievable goal for the community. For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call 402-582-4991 or sign up online at redcrossblood.org or through the Red Cross App.
“FCCLA is committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations,” said Ronita Jacobsen, FCCLA Adviser. “This blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
“We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative. Donors are encouraged to complete Rapid Pass online the day of the drive to help save time during the drive.
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of PEANUTS®, the Red Cross is once again teaming up to show that a little good goes a long way. Schedule your appointment to give blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma today! When you come to give Aug. 29–Sept. 21, 2025, you’ll receive an exclusive American Red Cross x PEANUTS mystery bag with one of four special T-shirt designs, while supplies last. The best part? You won’t know which iconic design you’ll get until you open it! Bring a friend to donate, and they’ll get a tee, too. That’s double the lifesaving impact — and double the fun. Whether you unwrap matching designs or mix it up, you’ll both be part of this limited-edition collab and a celebration of Snoopy and Woodstock’s classic friendship.
