Nine dedicated students in the Plainview Early Childhood Education program have successfully completed the Prepare to Care: Health and Safety Training under the guidance of Mrs. Jacobsen, FCS Instructor. This achievement represents a significant step forward in their careers as early childhood educators.

The students who earned their certifications are: Kaydance Maertins, Peighton Arlt, Kara Lingenfelter, Avery Hardisty, Ilyana Barron, Katherine Enriquez, Meleah Buck, Alyssa Abram, and Nyome Harding.

The Prepare to Care course is a required certification for all Child Care Subsidy Providers and Staff in Nebraska, as well as license exempt child care providers who receive subsidy payments. Offered free online through the Nebraska Department of Education's Learning Network, the comprehensive course features three modules complete with instructional content, educational videos, and assessments. Students must successfully complete each module sequentially to advance through the program.

The newly certified students are eager to begin their practicum placements next semester. They will rotate through various early childhood education settings, spending approximately three weeks in each environment. During these placements, students will gain hands-on experience working directly with children while developing essential professional skills.

As part of their practicum experience, students will create detailed lesson plans that include learning objectives aligned with both the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines and NE State Standards.

“I am proud of these students' continued dedication and commitment to excellence in early childhood education.” stated Mrs. Jacobsen.  “I look forward to working with them next semester and seeing their growth and development throughout their practicum experience.”
