FCCLA Members Kick Off the Year with STEP ONE Project
Learning more about FCCLA through the STEP ONE Project was the primary goal of the organization’s August 25 meeting. Members initiated the evening by celebrating with a "Blizzard of Possibilities" themed Dairy Queen cake.
During the business portion of the meeting, members discussed the ongoing Rada Cutlery fundraiser. All funds and order forms are due by September 8. Proceeds may be applied toward chapter dues, t-shirts, and conference registration fees. The chapter's first event of the year will be the Fall Leadership Conference, scheduled for September 16 at Wayne State College. T-shirt payments ($15) and annual dues ($20) are due by September 8. Members were also instructed to register on the Remind app to receive ongoing chapter communications and updates.
To conclude the event, members participated in the FCCLA Balloon Pop activity to deepen their knowledge of the organization through STEP ONE. Questions regarding FCCLA programs were placed inside balloons, while corresponding answer keys were hidden throughout the FCS classroom. Members searched the room to locate the answers, completing the initial requirements for their STEP ONE project. New members who complete the project will be recognized at the FCCLA Awards Night in April. Any members unable to attend the meeting can complete the project online via the STEP ONE Webquest.
The next meeting will take place on September 8 at 6:30 p.m., where members will begin work on Power of One projects and discuss upcoming STAR Projects. Calling for donors for the September 16 Red Cross Blood Drive will also be conducted.
